Our Story
Garen leads the build and design work, focused on creating spaces that are beautiful, functional, and built to last. Julia brings the plant and landscape side, shaping how spaces soften, grow, and settle into the environment over time.
.Garen has worked in the commercial construction industry for more than fifteen years. Before founding Working Hands NOLA, he served as a superintendent overseeing the build-outs of several beloved New Orleans businesses, including Acamaya, Le Ponce, Pluck Wine Bar, and Current Crop Coffee Roasters — just to name a few.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Garen brings a rare combination of hands-on skill, leadership, and industry knowledge to every project. His experience across a wide range of construction work gives him an understanding of the craft that is both authentic and deeply practical.
Julia is a state-licensed horticulturist who has been immersed in New Orleans’ plant world for nearly a decade. Before Working Hands NOLA, she worked as the assistant manager of a local landscape maintenance company and later joined Harold’s Plants in the Bywater, where she became a manager over the course of three years.
She still works with private garden clients and deeply treasures the opportunity to combine construction and gardening when helping homeowners reimagine their spaces. For Julia, the most rewarding projects are the ones that bring beauty, functionality, and a sense of life together in a truly personal way.
Working Hands NOLA started with the two of us — a husband-and-wife team who simply love building things together and helping people create spaces they feel good in. We care deeply about honest work, thoughtful details, and making ideas come to life in a way that feels personal and lasting.
